Apple Music Presaves

Why Apple Music presaves are less reliable than Spotify, and how ForeverFan handles it.

Apple Music presaves are harder than Spotify presaves, and it is not something any platform can fully fix. Here is the honest version of why, and what ForeverFan does about it so you do not lose the fan.

Apple has no real presave feature

Apple Music does not have a built-in presave the way Spotify does. On Spotify, when a fan presaves, it sticks: once the save lands in their library, it is permanent, and with a Forever Presave they keep saving your future releases too. (Since mid 2026 Spotify does put a 6 month clock on the presave permission itself. That one is new, it comes from Spotify, and it is covered here: Spotify's 6 Month Presave Limit.)

Apple works differently. It only lets fans save ahead within a 6 to 12 month window, and there is no permanent save on Apple.

It is unreliable across the whole industry

This is not a ForeverFan limitation. Apple presaves are unreliable everywhere. Even major labels run into it. Some have fans copy and paste links into Safari to get the save to go through, and others skip the Apple presave entirely and just collect the fan's email instead.

So if Apple presaves feel finicky, you are not doing anything wrong. That is the state of Apple presaves for everyone.

Some devices block the popup

Apple requires a popup to complete the save. Some devices and browsers block that popup, and no platform can control what a fan's device does. When the popup is blocked, the save cannot finish.

What ForeverFan does when the save can't complete

This is the part that matters. When an Apple save cannot go through, ForeverFan still keeps whatever contact info the fan shared, like their email or phone. So even if the save itself fails, the fan is not lost. You still have a direct line to them, which is what actually drives streams on release day.

Refresh your Apple presaves every 6 to 12 months

Because Apple's save-ahead window is only 6 to 12 months, refresh your Apple presave campaigns on that schedule. If you have a longer runway before a release, or a set of Apple fans you collected a while ago, a fresh presave keeps them inside Apple's window.
