Enabling “Collect Consent for Marketing” in Shopify
To ensure you're compliant with privacy laws (like GDPR, CCPA, and CAN-SPAM), Shopify gives you the option to request marketing consent from your customers at checkout. ForeverFan only recommends messaging fans who have explicitly opted in—so please follow the steps below to enable consent collection in your store.
✅ Steps to Enable Marketing Consent:
Log in to your Shopify Admin Go to shopify.com/admin and sign into your store.
Navigate to Checkout Settings From the left-hand sidebar, click: Settings → Checkout
Scroll to the “Email marketing” section You'll see an option labeled: “Show a sign-up option at checkout”
Check the box to enable Enable the checkbox for:
☑️ Show a sign-up option at checkout
Enable SMS marketing consent If you're also collecting phone numbers, scroll to the “SMS marketing” section and check:
☑️ Show a sign-up option at checkout
Save your changes Click the Save button at the top or bottom of the page.
🧠 What This Does
Once enabled, customers will see an opt-in checkbox during checkout that allows them to agree to receive marketing emails (and/or texts). ForeverFan uses this flag to help you respect your fans’ preferences and stay legally compliant.
