# Poll Links

A poll link asks your fans a question and lets them vote on it. Which single should come next? Which cover art do you like better? Which city should get the next show? Fans tap their pick, and you see the results build up over time.

## What you set up

* **Main Photo**: the image for the page.
* **Banner Text**: an optional line that scrolls across the top.
* **Link Name**: a name just for you, so you can find it in your list.
* **Poll Question**: the question fans answer. This one is required.
* **Subtext**: a short line under the question.
* **Voting Options**: the choices fans pick from.

## Options: text, photo, or audio

Every poll has a **Poll Type**, and it decides what your options look like:

* **Text**: plain written choices.
* **Photo**: each choice is an image.
* **Audio**: each choice plays a clip, which is perfect for picking between mixes or snippets.

Each option gets a title and a bit of subtext, plus its image or audio if you chose that type. You can drag the options to reorder them.

Each option can also carry its own **redirect**, a place a fan lands after they vote for it. So a vote for one option could send a fan to a video, while a vote for another sends them somewhere else.

{% hint style="warning" %}
Switching the poll type clears the options you have already added. If you build a set of text options and then switch to Photo, those options are gone. Pick your type first, then fill in the options.
{% endhint %}

## Asking for details before a vote

You can require fans to give you their details before they vote. Turn this on and a fan fills in a short form first, then casts their vote. It is a clean way to grow your audience while running a fun poll. See [Collecting fan data](/links/collecting-fan-data.md) to set up what you ask for.

## Where the results show up

You do not tally anything by hand. The vote counts live in the link's report, alongside its other numbers. Open the poll from your links list to see how each option is doing. See [Link analytics](/links/link-analytics.md) for the full report.
