How texting credits work, and how to text your fans the right way.
Two things to understand about texting: how you pay for it, and how to do it within the rules. Both are simple.
Texting runs on SMS credits. Every segment you send uses one credit. A short, plain text is one segment, so it uses one credit per fan. Longer texts and messages with emojis split into more segments, so they use more. There is more on segments in Sending a Text.
If you run low and need more credits, reach out to us at hello@foreverfanmusic.com and we will sort you out.
Your SMS page shows the current month and how many texts you have sent so far. It is the quick way to see your activity at a glance without opening each campaign.
Texting fans comes with real rules, and ForeverFan is built to keep you on the right side of them.
Any fan can text STOP to your number to opt out. The moment they do, they stop receiving your texts and they drop off your list of people you can message. This happens automatically, every time, and you cannot override it. It is the law, and it protects both you and your fans.
Only text people who gave you their phone number and agreed to hear from you. When a fan shares their number through one of your links, they are opting in, so those fans are fair game. Do not text numbers that came from somewhere else, or fans who never agreed to marketing texts. It is against the rules, and it puts your number at risk.
