# Add a Meta Pixel

A Meta Pixel connects your Facebook and Instagram ads to what fans do on your ForeverFan pages. Here is how to add one and confirm it is firing.

## Step 1: Find your Pixel ID

Your Pixel ID comes from **Meta Business Manager**, not from ForeverFan.

1. Open Meta Business Manager and go to your data sources (this is where pixels and datasets live).
2. Open the pixel you want to use, or create one if you do not have it yet.
3. Copy its **ID**. It is a long number.

If you have never made a pixel before, Meta walks you through creating one in the same place. You only need the ID.

## Step 2: Paste it into ForeverFan

You add the pixel where fans land, so pick the page you are running ads to.

**On a link:**

1. Open the link and go to its **Advanced** tab.
2. Paste your Pixel ID into the **Meta Pixel** field.
3. **Save.**

**On your mini-site:**

1. Open the mini-site editor and go to its **Advanced** tab.
2. Paste your Pixel ID into the **Meta Pixel** field.
3. **Save.**

{% hint style="warning" %}
Nothing takes effect until you save. If you leave the tab without saving, the pixel is not on the page.
{% endhint %}

## Step 3: Check that it works

Do this on the live page a fan would see, not inside the editor.

**Meta Pixel Helper.** This is a free Chrome extension from Meta that shows you which pixels are firing on a page. Install it from the [Chrome Web Store](https://chromewebstore.google.com/detail/meta-pixel-helper/fdgfkebogiimcoedlicjlajpkdmockpc), then open your live link or mini-site. Click the extension and you should see your pixel listed.

**Meta's Test Events tool.** Inside Meta Business Manager, the Test Events tool shows events coming in live. Open it, then open your page in another tab and interact with it.

What you should see:

* A **page view** the moment the page loads.
* A **lead** when you fill in and submit a details form on the page.

If both show up, the pixel is working and your ads can start using it.

If you see nothing, the most common reasons are that the pixel was not saved, you pasted something other than the numeric ID, or you are looking at the editor instead of the live page.
