# Filters and the Map

Your full audience is useful, but the groups inside it are where the real work happens. Filters let you carve your fans into exactly the set you want to see or message. Add as many as you like. The table and the fan count update live as you go.

Click **Add filter** to open the menu, then pick a type.

## The filters

* **Tags**: fans who carry a label you gave them. Tags are yours alone and never shown to fans. See [Tags](/your-audience/tags.md).
* **Has email**: fans who gave you an email address (or fans who did not).
* **Has phone**: fans who gave you a phone number (or fans who did not).
* **Country**: fans from a country you choose.
* **Map area**: fans inside (or outside) an area you draw on a map. More on this below.
* **Date joined**: fans who joined within a date range you set.
* **Poll Vote**: fans who voted in a poll, filtered by the option they picked.
* **RSVP**: fans who RSVPed to a show.
* **Campaign engagement**: fans based on how they responded to a past email.

### A few real uses

**Fans in a city before a show.** Add the **Map area** filter, draw a circle over the city, and you have every fan near the venue. Message them the ticket link, or export them for an ad. See the map section below.

**Fans who opened your last email.** Add the **Campaign engagement** filter, choose the email you sent, and set the signal to **Opened**. That gives you the fans who saw your last message, ready for a follow-up. You can also filter by **Delivered** or **Clicked**.

Open counts are approximate. Some mail apps load images automatically, which can register an open the fan never actually made.

**Fans who RSVPed.** Add the **RSVP** filter to pull everyone who raised their hand for a show. Great for telling them the moment tickets go live, or for justifying a bigger venue.

## The map filter

The map filter is the fastest way to reach fans by where they are. Pick **Map area** from the filter menu and a map opens.

To draw an area:

1. Click the circle tool at the top left of the map, just below the zoom controls.
2. Click and drag on the map to draw a circle over the area you want.
3. Draw more circles if you want to cover several places at once.

As you draw, a live count shows how many fans fall inside your area. You can switch between **Inside** and **Outside** to match fans in the area or everywhere but the area. Each circle you draw is listed below the map with its location and radius, and you can remove any one of them, or use **Clear Circle(s)** to start over.

Drag the map to move around and use the plus and minus controls to zoom. When the area looks right, click **Apply**. Your table now shows just the fans in that area, and you can message or export them from there.
